GiGB favorite, Dom DeLuise has past at the age of 75.

His list of credits is much too extensive to completely rehash in this space.  But his roles in comedic staples such Blazing Saddles, History of the World, Cannonball Run, Spaceballs, Johnny Dangerously and Robin Hood: Men in Tights have an awful lot to do in developing what we think is funny.  DeLuise’s self-deprecating sense of humor taught us all that if you can’t laugh at yourself, something something something.

I Got The Fever…

DC is now officially a hockey town (sorta.)

Ovie doin his thang

Ovie doin' his thang

The rain of hats thrown to celebrate the Great 8′s hat trick last night at the Phone Booth sure felt like something that would happen in Detroit or Chicago or Montreal.

Way to go Caps, and more importantly, way to go Caps fans!

And a brief sidenote to Sidney Crosby:  nice facial hair.  The kid that walks my dog has a fuller mustache than you.  And she is only 10.

Have You Been Practicing The Routine?!?

Most of my contributions to The ‘Nova are comments here and there – usually about the awesomeness that is Tiny T. But this little gem made its way into my inbox from The General and it’s worth sharing.  And since I know how much the boys enjoy any type of dance choreography, I thought The ‘Nova was the perfect place to share it.

Those of you who enjoy Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory will not need any background on this spoof of Rob’s dance routine “Butter Feet” choreographed by ACDC’s (not the band with the dude who insists on only wearing shorts, rather the Adam/Chu Dance Crew) Adam Sevani and staring SuperFan Cole Hernandez.

Turns out Cole is also a fan of the Denver Nuggets and has performed during the Nuggets half time show. Throw it all in the blender – add a mix of marketing genius and you get Nugget Feet:

Let’s All Go To The Lobby…

The ‘Nova can’t afford to have a full time movie reviewer on staff.  It’s not like we pay any of the staff, it’s more about the fact we can’t afford movie tickets.

Will work for movie tickets

Will work for movie tickets

This is problematic; there are a TON of movies in the development queue or about to be released or even out already that the GiGB brand of super insightful commentary would be tailor made for.  I mean, there’s a GI JOE movie coming out this summer!

So we can handle this in a couple of different ways.  1) You, the loyal reader, can send in some cashola for us to buy tix, 2) we can review movies based on commercials and web-released trailers, 3) wait for them to come out on NetFlix or, 4) we can “hire” a pro-bono (hahaha, bono) movie critic.

If you have the snarky, and you like movies, send us a note already.  We’re here to help.  And don’t worry about the writing part; hell Tiny can’t even read, let alone write.  We’ll work out the details in post.

Hot Four Way Action

Congratulatory huzzahs abound today for the newest GiGB Senior Editor, Brian.  His addition rounds out our quartet – all other applications will be deftly deposited in the circular filing cabinet.  That is, of course, should we actually receive any applications.  Or any interest at all.

Now that I think about it, we ARE accepting applications.  And doughnuts.  Let’s make this happen.

Yea Brian!

White Sox starting pitcher Josh Danks was caught on camera last night looking for an illegal substance to put on the ball.

Unleash The Fury

So the Caps survived their opening round matchup against the Rangers.  They had a shake up in the net, subbing out Jose Theodore for the untested rookie, Simeon Varlamov.

I won’t pretend to know enough about hockey to fake any truly insightful preview in this space.  However I do know this; goaltending is key in the playoffs.  And while he is very, very inexperienced, Varly is coming off a great performance against the Rangers.  Hopefully the 6 games he played is enough to kick start his confidence for the Penguins series.

But make no mistake, I really don’t think there are going to be any 1-0 or 2-1 games against the Pens.  In the regular season, the Rangers only outscored the gawd awful Islanders in the East, while the Penguins tied for third in goals scored.

This has the all the makings for some 6-3 type of games, so hold on to your red hats, and LET’S GO CAPS!
